Start 'Em Young!

Renate and Mason are both 3 turning 4 in March.  They met this year at High Camp.   Here they are on a ski together, taking care of each other as they learn to glide through the snow.  Cutest darn thing you ever have seen...and they have no idea how cute they are.  They were concentrating on SKIING! That's what I am talking about.

Sierra is 6 and Charlie is 5.  Great new High Camp friends, they are getting ready to ski to mid mountain which is 4 miles below High Camp.  This is a great way to exit.  These two are pretty competitive...they are jostling for position, wanting to lead their families down.  High Camp is a perfect place for kids to learn to ski and meet friends who also love the snow.

The Ford Family has been coming to High Camp for many years.  Conor and Ryan, along with their friend Cameron begin to "lift their heels" this weekend and move toward the grand Telemark Turn!  In a few years, no one will be able to catch these kids as they shuss down the slopes.

Maxwell Smart!

Meet Maxwell, one of our experienced staff!  Maxwell is an Eagle Scout and we at Scottish Lakes High Camp rely on his skills.  Max maintains a calm presence during our most exciting and challenging moments.  He also enjoys challenging himself!  Here he is digging out our fire pit which lies under 90 inches of snow!  By the end of the day he built a fire and provided marshmallows for our guests to roast in the dead of winter.  Now, that's the spirit.  If you happen to see Maxwell during your High Camp stay...ask him what he is reading!  The conversation will be very interesting.

Champagne Snow

Under clear frosty nights in winter soft ice crystals might form on vegetation or any object that has been chilled below freezing point by radiation cooling. This deposit of ice crystals is known as hoar frost and may sometimes be so thick that it might look like snow.

Well this champagne snow is divine to ski in!  It flies up around you as you turn down the slope and sparkles like diamonds in the sun.  The best!
